In response to growing urbanization, increasing mental health concerns, and declining levels of physical activity among housewives, this study investigates the role of urban green spaces and housewives-only parks in promoting their psychological well-being and encouraging participation in nature-based physical activities. The research focuses on key factors, including sociability, mental well-being, park management, and environmental safety, to identify the conditions that influence housewives’ presence in parks and their willingness to engage in physical activities. A quantitative survey was conducted in Tabriz, involving 210 housewives aged over 18 who were systematically selected from Shams Tabrizi and El Goli parks. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire consisting of demographic characteristics and measures related to park use and participation in physical activities. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS, with Cronbach’s alpha applied to assess reliability and Spearman’s correlation coefficient used to examine relationships among variables. The findings indicate that sociability (r=0.75) and mental well-being (r=0.807) are the strongest factors associated with housewives’ presence in urban parks. Additionally, park management quality (r=0.528) demonstrated a positive relationship with their engagement in physical activities. In housewives-specific parks, the characteristics of “supportiveness” (mean=4.23) and “freedom of action” (mean=4.15) were identified as important contributors to users’ perceptions of safety, autonomy, and motivation for active participation. The findings suggest that reducing socio-cultural constraints and creating supportive environments can enhance housewives’ park attendance, facilitate social interaction, increase self-confidence, and contribute to their overall health. Therefore, urban planners should prioritize gender-sensitive design strategies, strengthen social support systems, and improve the planning and management of recreational spaces to encourage both park presence and active lifestyles among housewives.
